Woman’s Club of Concord Gingerbread Housing Champion Competition
Competition Theme: “Home Sweet Home” Participants are invited to design gingerbread houses that reflect affordable, inclusive housing models. Think: tiny homes, multi-family dwellings, co-housing, and modular structures—all in gingerbread form to be displayed December 5th at the Woman’s Club Chamberlin House at 44 Pleasant Street in Concord, NH from 5:00-9:00pm.
Competition Goals: •Raise awareness about housing affordability and equity •Encourage dialogue through artistic interpretation •Foster community engagement with a meaningful, playful twist.
Award Categories:
Housing Champion Award--Best representation of affordability and innovation in gingerbread design
Sweet Equity Award--Most inclusive model—welcoming all shapes, sizes, and stories
Tiny But Mighty Award--Exceptional tiny house showcasing ingenuity with limited space
Community Crunch Award--Best multi-unit design promoting shared resources
Most Thoughtful Feature--Smart, whimsical design elements that reflect real-life housing needs
Entry Guidelines: •Size Limit: 12"x12" base, max height 18" •Materials: Edible elements only; must include affordable design features (e.g., compact rooms, shared spaces)
•Story Tagline: Each entry must be accompanied by a short narrative linking the design to real housing solutions
Special Youth Category: Local classrooms can build group entries and share thoughts about housing designs. The youth category can include dog houses and bird houses as well as tiny homes.
📣 Special Gingerbread” Key to the City” award will be given in the Youth Category
Special “People’s Choice Award” will be voted upon by the Public
